PPLive is software for watching peer-to-peer television. PPLive lets you watch dozens of tv channels, mainly Chinese ones, including ones sending live football from the mayor European leagues and other sport events. When watching you are at the same time uploading the stream to other users. Users don't need a connection to the original server to get the signal so the server is far less likely to overload when the demand is growing. The more popular the channel, the better the signal. Its website and some parts of the program are largely in Chinese, but these instructions should help out. Other programs offering a similar service are PPStream, TVAnts and Sopcast, among others.
Here we go:
1. Download PPLive 1.0.9.5. This is not the latest version, but problems have been reported with the most recent versions.
2. When first starting the installation file, select a language. Choose English, or any of the other languages you speak fluently. :)
3. In the next window select a location to install PPLive, and click Install. Don't bother reading the readme-file, it's not in English.
4. PPLive consists of 2 programs: 'PPLive TV' (which is nothing more than a skinned Media Player in Chinese) and 'PPLive TV Engine', this is the work horse and is similar to PPLive version 1.08.x and earlier.
5, Start the PPLive TV Engine by clicking the icon with the blue down arrow. In your taksbar on the right of your windows bar you'll see the same blue arrow icon. By right-clicking this icon you can access the menu to configure some options if you need to. You can also use this menu to exit the program.
6. When the engine is started you can choose a channel below :). Simply click on one of the 'Broadcast'-links (note that this is a machine translation of the original channel list page that can be found here; sometimes the frame below takes some time to load or doesn't load properly. Reloading sometimes solves the problem). Alternatively you can click on 'synacast://' links on other pages such as the Asia Plate live football page. All starting times on that page are UTC and +8UTC.
7. After selecting a channel, the blue arrow in the taskbar will be moving down, and after some time Windows Media Player (or any other player defined in the configuration window) will pop up and start showing the channel chosen. Please note that after closing the Media Player window, PPLive will still be downloading and further uploading the channel you were viewing. You need to select another channel or exit PPLive to stop this.
Have Fun!
